Sustainable tourism is the new priority for travelers, and the GreenComp4Hosts project is here to lead the way!
Here are some surprising facts about the sector and how our project is making a difference:
- 82% of Europeans are willing to change their travel habits to adopt more sustainable practices, a trend that has grown significantly in recent years.
- SMEs represent 99.8% of all tourism businesses in the European Union. Due to a lack of resources and specific expertise, these businesses often face the greatest challenges in transitioning to “green” and digital operational models.
- GreenComp4Hosts is the first European initiative to adapt the GreenComp framework (the European sustainability competence framework) specifically for the hotel sector and tourism students.
- The project will provide a Hotel Sustainability Toolkit featuring 25 low-cost, easy-to-implement good practices and 10 case studies, proving that sustainability does not have to be an expensive or highly specialized task.
- We are developing a free, modular MOOC based on the 12 competencies of GreenComp, allowing professionals to learn at their own pace in six different languages (English, Portuguese, Greek, Spanish, Italian, and French).
- To ensure a lasting impact, the project website and all training resources will remain available and accessible for free for at least 5 years after the official close of the project.
