On May 14th and 15th, ANESPO (National Association of Private Schools of Portugal) proudly hosted the kick-off meeting for the GreenComp4Hosts project at its headquarters in Lisbon. This marked the official launch of an exciting new initiative focused on integrating sustainability into the tourism sector through innovative vocational education and training (VET) opportunities.

The GreenComp4Hosts project aims to equip the tourism industry’s current and future professionals with the green competencies needed to drive the sector towards a more sustainable future. By incorporating GreenComp, a set of green competencies, into VET curricula, the project will empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism sector, as well as students and professionals, to enhance their skills and adapt to the growing demand for sustainable practices in tourism.

Over the next 24 months, the project will provide flexible and impactful training opportunities designed to foster the transition to sustainable tourism. This initiative is funded by Agência Nacional Erasmus+ Educação e Formação and is set to make a significant contribution to the transformation of the tourism industry by developing the green skills needed for the sector’s future.

The kick-off meeting in Lisbon brought together partners from across Europe, who collaboratively discussed the next steps and shared their visions for how this project will shape the future of tourism education and sustainability. The goal is to ensure that tourism professionals are not only equipped with the skills for today’s challenges but are also prepared for the future, making tourism more eco-friendly, responsible, and resilient.

Stay tuned and follow the GreenComp4Hosts project as we work towards a sustainable future for the tourism sector!
